The ÖFB App is the digital home of Austrian football – for fans, players, and clubs. It combines news, live scores, tables, videos, live streams, and personalized notifications in a modern user experience.

Ahoi Kapptn! was responsible for the complete redevelopment – from the concept and technical foundation to the relaunch. With millions of monthly visits and over a hundred thousand active users, the app is now one of the leading sports platforms in the country.

Strategy for a digital ecosystem

In collaboration with the ÖFB, a new platform strategy was developed that unites all digital touchpoints – app, web, and ÖFB TV. The goal was to bring together information, live streams, and interactions into a central experience.

User Focus & Insights

Analyses and user interviews clearly showed: football fans want more than just results – they expect a personal experience. The new ÖFB app was therefore consistently designed for individualization. Users can select favorite clubs, competitions, and players and receive tailored news, push notifications, and livestream recommendations.

Design & Brand Presence

The new design consistently transfers the brand identity of the ÖFB into the digital realm – reduced, dynamic, and sporty. The look & feel should authentically represent Austrian football and combine emotion with functionality.

The app was completely redeveloped – with a focus on performance, stability, and real-time experience. A native architecture ensures smooth transitions and precise display even under high data load on match days

Backend & Data Integration

Results, tables, push notifications, and live tickers are provided in real time via high-performance interfaces. A scalable backend ensures that everything runs smoothly even during major tournaments or cup matches.

ÖFB TV & Livestreams

A core component of the app is ÖFB TV. Games, highlights, and interviews are streamed directly here – from the national team to the ÖFB Cup. Ahoi Kapptn! ensured the technical integration and an optimized video player experience for mobile use.

Steadily growing engagement

Since the relaunch, the app has recorded several million views per month. It has established itself as the leading digital platform of Austrian football – with steadily growing usage and community.

Ongoing Feature Development

New features such as Player of the Match voting, social media graphics, or a survey tool were added later. The goal is a seamless interplay of live data, content, and interaction.
